My Green Home Giveaway Update!

So... the renovations are almost done at the Whitney/Harlos home! Mayer Lighting Showroom provided the family with great lighting for the kitchen. Two Progress Lighting Fresnel Pendants that feature industrial roots in form and function, antique-inspired Fresnel glass lens and a brushed nickel finish were installed in the kitchen. These fixtures will give their space an antique, yet sleek feel. The Satco Halogen Excel bulbs in the fixtures meet EISA requirements, are fully dimmable, mercury free and instant-on, and they will save up to 30% on their energy bill. To finish the lighting project, a Lutron Ariadni Toggle dimmer has been installed.  This switch features a toggle and a small side dimmer, 3 way capabilities, and compared to a standard switch will save them at least 15% on energy savings. These products will not only save energy and extend the bulb life, they will provide them the ability to create ambiance in the space. You can find all products at one of our three lighting showrooms.

Stay tuned to see pictures of these items in the home!

Home Staging-- Lighting is Crucial!

It's the new year and you may decide that you are ready to sell your house and find something new. But before you put your house on the market it is important that it looks its best! In 2008 the trend of "home staging" became very popular. Lighting is crucial! A bright home looks bigger and therefore sells faster. See lighting tips below:

  1. Kitchen: use plenty of different lighting sources such as recessed, island pendants, and breakfast nook fixtures. This will give visual warmth to a room.
  2. Dark Corners: every room has dark corners which can make the room appear smaller. Floor lamps are an easy, handy way to boost brightness.
  3. Large Areas: ambient lighting throughout the space will make the room appear warm and larger.
  4. Cozy Nook: in the family room create a cozy reading area with a nice lamp.
  5. Bathroom: add sconces to generate ambiance, hang a decorative fixture over the tub, and add dimmer switches. All of these things make it more appealing.
According to real estate market statistics, proper home staging can reduce a listing's time on the market by an estimated one-third to one-half versus non-staged homes and could net as much as 10% more than a residence that was either empty or not staged. So come to Mayer Lighting Showroom and find what you need to create an excellent staged home!
