Summer is fast approaching and I am sure you are getting your landscaping and landscape lighting in place before all of the backyard barbecues. One quick tip to know about mounting lighting on trees. As we all know, trees are living trees and require special attention.
- Maintenance: Make sure you will have a way to maintain lights before installing them. The lights will have to be changed periodically so you will need to have easy access to them.
- Fasteners: Make sure to use stainless steel or cadmium plated steel fasteners. Never use brass or copper fasteners as they will oxidize over time which is poisonous to trees.
- Allow Room for Growth: When you mount the light, make sure there is room for growth upward and outward. The supply cable should be attached to the tree trunk with nylon cable ties that are screwed to the tree.
